Sneak Peeks

Actually, this post should have been titled "Teasers." You'll see why in a minute.

The countdown is at 15 days. And I've got plenty to keep me busy. Wanna see what I'll be working on?!?!

Out Of Town Guest Bags:

These canvas bags will be filled with lots of goodies for our out of towners. I have the bags, now I just need the fillings!

Guest Book:

Yep, that rolled up thing is our guest book. I know you are scratching your head wondering how that is a guest book. You'll just have to wait to see.

Favors:

Sorry no pictures.

Bridesmaids Gifts:

Since I want their gifts to be surprises, the only thing I will post is their bridesmaid "survival" kit.

So, yeah. I dont want to give away the personal touches for our wedding. If I did, our guests wouldnt be surprised. To see the final products, you'll have to check back in after the wedding.

Note: From this point on, postings will most likely be very very light. I'll try to do my best to post what I can before the wedding. I do have some scheduled to post while we are in St. Lucia. But I promise when we get back to share everything I havent so far.

Lillies, Tulips, and Roses... Oh My! Part 2

So I've already shared the inspirations for the centerpieces, lets take a look at bouquets.

Like I've said before, I'm not flower smart.. for lack of a better term. I dont really have a favorite flower, which means I'm not very picky when it comes to what flowers are used in our wedding. Below are pictures I came across that caught my eye... mainly for the fact that they hit the colors I was looking for in the bouquets.

My bouquet: I dont really like the all white/ivory bridal bouquets. I want some color...

Bridesmaids bouquets: Since their dresses are a color that might be hard to match with flowers, I decided that I wanted them to have green bouquets. Green is our "second" color in the wedding, so it works out perfectly.

FMIL went to the florist on Tuesday and put together some bouquets with flowers she found. I'll get to see them in person on Friday when we stop by to drop off Maddie on our way out to Charlottesville for a friends wedding.

I Think We Are Ready To Party

So I just had to share this picture with you.

In case you cant tell what exactly you are looking at... its the alcohol for our wedding. We've got:

1 and 1/2 cases of liquor
2 cases of white wine
2 cases of red wine
1 case of champagne

We still have to get the liquor for our welcome drink and beer, but other than that we're ready. :)

Lillies, Tulips and Roses... Oh My!

I just realized I havent posted anything yet about flowers. So let's just jump right in. We'll start with centerpieces...

Justin's mom is a Master Gardener and she, along with another MG friend, have graciously offered to do our flowers. Now I know nothing about flowers. I dont even know what flowers are "in season" at the time of our wedding. So I've really given my FMIL run of the show. And she's come up with some really great ideas and mock-ups.

About a month or so ago, I started sending her pictures of flower arrangements and bouquets that I liked. She took what I sent her, mixed it with her ideas and came up with these for centerpieces...
I love the lime slices!

These arent the flowers that will be used for the wedding. The mock-ups were done in July just to start getting ideas for looks. I'm really excited to see what she puts together for our centerpieces.

Next, I'll share my bouquet inspiration photos.

*Sparkle*

I really want a grand exit at the end of the night. And what better way to get that than with sparklers. Luckily, the Valentine allows them -- many places dont.

I'm hoping we get pictures like these...

How pretty.

Banded with Love

Our bands are here! At the end of June, Justin and I made the trip to Richmond to visit Bob at Adolf's Jewelers. Bob helped Justin with my engagement ring and Justin liked him so much that he wanted to go back to him when it was time to pick out our wedding bands. So we did. Except the day we went, Bob had an emergency and had gone home early. Since trips to Richmond arent easy to come by with Justin's schedule, we decided to work with one of the associates there.

First we looked at the men's bands. The associate was really helpful and told us about the different metals that can be used. We already knew that Justin didn't want platinum for his band -- it's just not worth the money it costs for platinum for a man's band. Justin had already nixed titanium/tungsten -- I cant remember why. The other option was white gold, but gold scratches easily. Then the associate told us about palladium. It wears like platinum but prices like gold. Perfect! Justin's work/life is very hands on, so palladium would be exactly what he would need. So he picked out the style he liked.

Then it was on to my band. One of the reasons Justin picked the engagement ring he did, was because there was a matching band. So we were shown the matching band in a few sizes and styles and I picked the one I liked.

Justin had his finger sized and we left. We couldnt get quotes that day because it was after 5 on a Friday and the manufacturers were all closed. So we waited until the next week. When Justin got the call with the quotes, he was told that the ring I picked out was no longer being made. So we would have to come back and pick out something different. Bummer! We planned another trip in July and when we got there, turns out there had been some miscommunication because in fact my ring is still being made. It's my engagement ring that is discontinued. So we put in our order, paid and left. All I have to say is... good thing we did our band shopping early. We had plenty of cushion for all of the little hiccups.
Here's a picture of my band and engagement ring.

Looks good if you ask me!
